About Dr Corin Gawith

Dr. Corin Gawith is a Senior Research Fellow at the ORC developing new technologies in integrated and nonlinear optics. He gained a PhD on direct-bonded waveguides at the ORC in 2001, following an MPhys with Optoelectronics degree from the University of Kent in 1997. During his PhD, Corin received a Monbusho Research Fellowship award from Japan and a CASE award from DERA for his work in nonlinear optics. Throughout his postdoctoral career at the University of Southampton, Corin has continued to develop new technologies in periodically poled nonlinear optics and UV-written silica-on-silicon, and joined Peter Smith and Richard Williams in establishing the spin-out company, Stratophase Ltd. (www.stratophase.com), to commercially exploit this work. Corin has a diverse range of experience in the design, fabrication, and commercialisation of nonlinear ferroelectric devices, numerous patents, and over 90 publications in international journals and conferences.
