About Dr Anna Peacock

In 1996 Anna Peacock was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in physics, by The University of Auckland, New Zealand. She went on to complete a MSc in physics, obtaining first class honours.

In 2001 she joined the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton to undertake her doctoral studies where she obtained an Overseas Research Student (ORS) award. Her PhD entitled “Applications of Light Propagation in Novel Photonic Devices,” was awarded in 2004.

After completing her doctoral degree, Anna was employed as a researcher for Stratophase Ltd, an ORC spin-out company. She returned to the ORC in 2005 where she is currently employed as a research fellow and collaborates with Dr P. Sazio of the ORC and Prof J. Badding of Pennsylvania State University, USA on a project which involves the deposition of functional materials into the air holes of MOFs. Combining fibre technology with semiconductor and metal processing is a major advance for optoelectronic technologies in that the light no longer has to leave the fibre in order to interact with the electronic devices. Her current work is focused on plasmon engineering of metal modified fibres. In 2007 Anna was awarded a five-year Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship.

Anna is also a referee for Optics Letters and Optics Express.
