Student Chapters form international network
April 2007- OPN (Optics and Photonics News)
The Optical Society of America Student Chapter has joined together with other international OSA student chapters to form a student-driven network known as IONS - The International OSA Network of Students - to establish and strengthen professional and personal ties among OSA's young researchers.
The idea for a student-led network was first proposed at OSA's annual meeting in Rochester last October. Several chapters immediately took to the idea, and the IONS premier meeting was held in January. A second meeting is planned for this July at the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton. IONS intends to hold biannual meetings and other gatherings.
