Integrated Microsphere Planar Lightwave Circuits

This project is primarily concerned with circular micro-resonators, their design, production, characterisation and use. Circular micro-resonators, as either 3 dimensional spheres or 2d rings/disks have applications as routing, switching and memory devices for computing and communications and also as low threshold lasers.


In collaboration with Phil Bartlet, James Wilkinson, Michael Zervas, Liz Tull, Yuwapat Pantichob, Senthil Ganapathy.


 

Ge-Sb-S ring resonator on 15 um SiO2/Si wafer, fabricated by CVD and by FIB with University of Bristol
