Distributed Optical Fibre Sensors

PhD projects

Two PhD students are sought to join a team researching and developing distributed fibre optic sensors. The research covers the development of optical sources, direct intensity and coherent detection systems, the study of non-linear effects in fibre, discrete optical amplifiers, distributed Raman amplification and optical frequency filtering techniques. The students will gain experience in many aspects of photonics research relevant to both the sensor and telecommunication industries. The students will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with the world’s leading producer of distributed fibre optic sensors.
